Laconia (Greek: Λακωνία, LakoníaGreek pronunciation: [lakoˈni.a]) is a region of Greece in the southeastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula.

In 480 BC, King Leonidas and 300 Spartan soldiers marched from Laconia to Thermopylae to fight the Persian invaders.[1]
